Auburn, Ala. – The Water Works Board of the City of Auburn has scheduled required maintenance on an existing water main and fire hydrant at the intersection of East Thach Avenue, South Debardeleben Street, and Auburn Drive on Thursday, March 19 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., weather permitting. Crews will replace the existing fire hydrant and install two new water valves.
Customers on Chewacla Drive, Hillcrest Drive, Auburn Drive, East Thach Avenue, Ross Circle, East Magnolia Avenue, and South Debardeleben Street will experience temporary water service interruptions during the scheduled work. Crews will work to restore water service as quickly as possible. Temporary lane closures will also be required along Auburn Drive and South Debardeleben Street. In the event of inclement weather, work will be rescheduled for Friday, March 20 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Customers in the affected areas may notice a temporary discoloration in their water once service has been restored. This is a result of sediment that has settled in the water line and is not harmful. Customers who notice a discoloration should simply let the tap flow until the water clears. The Water Works Board of the City of Auburn apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates its customers’ understanding as work is done to maintain the water system.
For more information, please contact the City of Auburn Water Resource Management Department at 501-3060.
