City utilizes social networking sites to keep citizens informed

Auburn, Ala. – Citizens looking to stay up-to-date on the latest news and announcements from the City of Auburn have two new ways to stay informed. Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. commented, “It is important for us to provide news and information in a way that reaches all of our citizens. The City’s website and e-Notifier email notification system continue to offer a wealth of knowledge for citizens. These new social networking tools are the latest in our continued efforts to reach out to our citizens and keep them informed of what is going on in their city.” Citizens may continue to receive their updates via the e-Notifier, the city’s email subscription service providing free email notifications of press releases, meeting packet availability, Open Line announcements, trash pick-up schedule reminders, Library events, and much more. Auburn, Ala. – Construction on the East Samford Avenue extension between East University Drive and East Glenn Avenue is nearing completion. The new traffic signal at the intersection of East Samford Avenue and East University Drive is now operating in flash mode (flashing yellow/caution). Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area. Please note, the East Samford Avenue extension is not open to traffic at this time. Upon completion of construction, traffic signals at East Samford Avenue – East University Drive and East Samford Avenue – East Glenn Avenue will be fully operational.

In the 2009 Citizen Survey, Auburn citizens indicated the management of traffic flow and congestion was their top priority for City officials to address over the next two years. The completion of the East Samford Avenue extension is expected to help improve east-west traffic flow in the City.
