Knology to Provide Data, Video and Voice Broadband Services  to Auburn Residents and Businesses

(March 29, 2010) Auburn, Ala. — Competition in data, video and voice broadband services is coming to Auburn. A Knology groundbreaking event Thursday, April 1, will mark the start of the construction process in the Auburn area. By late summer or early fall Auburn residents and businesses will have access to Knology’s state-of-the-art data, video and voice services provided over the industry’s most advanced fiber network.

The first step to bring Knology to Auburn was when the Auburn City Council unanimously approved a non-exclusive cable franchise agreement with Knology. Network mapping and engineering analysis will begin April 5, with construction scheduled to start 60 to 90 days thereafter. The first customers are currently expected to begin using Knology services during late August or early September in the area south of the interstate along Moores Mill Road.

“This is a great opportunity for Knology to build a new broadband network in the Auburn area that will bring much needed choice to the market,” Royce Ard, general manager, Knology of Columbus, said. “Competition offers many benefits to consumers. Residents and businesses in Auburn will soon be able to choose Knology’s fiber-driven, high-speed Internet, digital cable and telephone technology, as well as experience our company-wide focus on exceptional customer service.”

“The Knology team is very excited to be bringing our services to Auburn,” M. Todd Holt, President and Chief Financial Officer of Knology, Inc., said. “There has been consistent demand from the Auburn area for choice in data, video, and voice services, and we are pleased, as a company, to be in a position to make this significant investment in the Auburn community.”

Knology’s leadership in the area is exemplified by a number of “firsts.” For example, in the Columbus and Montgomery markets, Knology was the first company to introduce high-speed Internet over broadband cable modem, digital cable TV and Video On Demand services, and offer the convenience of cable TV, telephone and Internet services from one company. In addition, Knology of Columbus, Montgomery and Valley have all received A-Plus ratings from the Better Business Bureau.

The Knology groundbreaking event with the Auburn Chamber of Commerce is set for 1:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, April 1, at the Tutton Hill development, located off of Hamilton Road (next to the new Hamilton Place Shopping Center).
