Auburn, Ala. – The 25th Anniversary Annual Conference of the Government Finance Officers Association of Alabama (GFOAA) will be held in Auburn today through Friday, February 27. More than 100 governmental accounting and finance professionals from around the State are expected to attend the three-day event at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. This marks the first time the conference has been held in Auburn

During the course of the conference, participants will attend seminars and round table discussions on current issues in governmental finance and accounting. Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. will welcome attendees on Thursday, February 26. Other City officials participating in the conference include Assistant City Manager/CIO Jim Buston, presenting an update on technology, and Finance Director Andrea Jackson, conducting a session on interim financial reporting.

City of Auburn Finance Department staff members have been preparing for the conference for months. As current Past-President of GFOAA, Deputy Finance Director Penny Smith has coordinated the conference efforts.
