Aluminum Technology Schmid North America, Inc. Breaks Ground on New Location in Auburn Technology Park West
First manufacturing facility to locate in Auburn’s newest technology park

Auburn, Ala. – Aluminum Technology Schmid North America, Inc. broke ground on its new location in Auburn Technology Park West on Tuesday, July 29. In 2006, the company located its first North American operation in Auburn and currently occupies a facility in the Auburn Center for Developing Industries (ACDI), the City of Auburn’s business incubator facility. Aluminum Technology Schmid will be the first company to operate in Auburn Technology Park West, the City of Auburn’s most recent addition to its industrial and technology parks. The park, located off Beehive Road in Auburn, will be the central location for new industrial growth in Auburn.

Aluminum Technology Schmid is a precision machining company from the Stuttgart Region in Germany specializing in high-end aluminum parts for hydraulic applications in the automotive industry. The new investment will include a die casting operation to further expand the product range of the aluminum specialist Aluminum Technology Schmid. Currently, the company’s Auburn location employs 30 people and expects to add an additional 20 people upon completion of its new facility. The project represents a total of $8.8 million in capital investment for Auburn.

When we located in Auburn in 2006, we knew our long-term plan was to build a permanent facility. We are fortunate that our North American business has grown to the point that we are now ready to move forward with our expansion plans and we look forward to locating in Auburn Technology Park West.”
